It has been too long since I added to this blog! In my defence, everyone is fine and life is just chuggin' away. But at least once a day I think, "I should blog about that..." Whatever "that" is.
My winter project is to go through the five foot tall (I measured) stack of boxes of slides left to us by both our parents, get rid of all the places I don't know and people I don't know, while keeping the best of the landscapes and people we do know. In the newest, largest and most packed box of slides I found five 8mm film reels labeled "Tom and Mary Easter in Enumclaw" and "Mary's First Birthday" etc. (The picture here is scanned from an ad still in the box.) Some research shows that they can still be changed to DVD at a cost of about $65 for the lot. I think I will. I also plan to send many of the slides I keep out to be digitized.
It seems that, amongst everything else, now is the time I suspected was coming when I'm to learn about video formats, video editing and production. I've wanted to do this, but the time never seemed right. In our church, since I edit stills, people expect me to know everything about video. Now I have several projects, some urgent, some implied. Some projects, like these old family movies have waited 50 years and could wait a while longer, but may be just the thing to practice on.
My other project is to work on the spiritual gifts of gentleness and peace.
Ha! Yeah, right - oops I mean certainly!
