Mt Hood and the Hood River Valley

Hubby and I took a jaunt down to Oregon last weekend. We drove all the way around Mt. Hood and stayed in the town of Hood River on the Columbia River. We'd never been there! We lucked out because it is harvest time and the Hood River valley provides 50% of the pears in the US! There are huge bins of green pears and red pears and crunchy pears and juicy pears and big pears and little pears and pointy pears and round pears. There are orchards as far as the eye can see. We're eating pears now. That area is also known for its wines, apples (cider!) and waterfalls. We had a great time!
