The Full Glass

OK, here’s the deal. I decided long ago that I’m not a “glass half full” OR a “glass half empty” kind of person. I’m a “if you don’t like what’s there get a pitcher and fix it” kind of person. The only reason I stop and reflect on my life is to see what needs changing, not to pat myself on the back or sit around complaining. Now, I know that analogies are not meant to be totally accurate, but I’ve been thinking about this for a while.
I realize that sometimes life obviously gives you a glass that is less than half full. Get another glass – a smaller one. The same amount of water in a smaller glass will fill it to the brim. Lower your expectations. In real life this could look like making do with less or maybe chemo treatments – in order to stay alive you have to cut back on life.
I was talking with my son the other day and he had another suggestion. Drink it. Life is made to be lived.
This New Year drink deep of life.
