Remember when...

Friday this week was an interesting day. My brother, Tom came over from Spokane, WA for a visit. We met up at the rest home where our mom is living with Alzheimer’s and on hospice care. It is hard for both of us to see this previously vibrant, always busy, loving woman so wasted. Then he followed me to the niche where our Dad has been buried. We left some flowers and talked. Finally we went to my place and divided the family coin collection. It would seem like this would be a dismal way to spend a morning, but it was sooo wonderful to spend time talking with him. He and I are the only ones who know some of the stories – the remember-whens.
The picture above was taken around 1963 in Florida when our family lived just south of Cape Canaveral for a bit over a year. Hey Tom! Remember when you found that big scorpion and was running water over it and yelling, “Mom, do you think this bug likes water?” and mom…
