After Zion we traveled up to Bryce National Park. The little bit of snow Zion got was a full scale blizzard at Bryce the day before we got there. Bryce’s altitude is 8,000-10,000 feet. It was cold. I’d packed shorts. Many places on the trails were ice, snow and the kind of mud that sticks to the bottom of your shoes with each step. Bryce is one beautiful place in an austere way. It is really something to see all those hoodos from the top of the canyon. It is even more interesting to see them from the bottom. My favorite time there turned out to be getting up before dawn and hiking to the rim to take pictures when the first light of the sun hit the walls. WOW
